Blog tasks: ideology
Binary opposition is suggested between the two conflicting ideologies regarding immigration. Nigel Farage and Russel Brand have two juxtaposing mindsets when it comes to immigration. Nigel Farage argues the fact that the UK is becoming overpopulated due to immigration and he states that immigrants are taking over people’s jobs and homes. Whereas Russel Brand states that the government is at fault as they are not successful in collecting taxes from the rich. Another way that binary opposition is suggested is in the way that they present themselves. Nigel dresses more formally, in a suit and tie. Whereas Russell is seen in a more relaxed and comfortable attire
Left-wing and right-wing ideologies are presented in this clip. In some cases, the point from either side is valid. However, Nigel's points seem to be made not because of his concerns for the county but mainly from his slight hatred for people from ethnic backgrounds and his conservative life.
